Information

My area of expertise includes media, especially audio-visual media. I have conducted projects on film and television, digital media and media education in Cupore. Gender equality in media and culture is my special area of interest.

In addition, I have a long career as a researcher and expert in several transnational projects. In 2017, I was a member of the supervising committee for the Nordic Council of Ministers / Women and Men in the News. Earlier, I have been involved in projects Women and Media Industry in Europe (EIGE), Global Report on the Status of Women in News Media Organizations (IWMF/UNESCO); TV-presenters, Commercialization and Gender in Scandinavia:  A Comparative Study Focusing on Public Service vs. Commercial Channels (NOS-H).

I have also conducted several national research projects on journalism, media production and audio-visual media. My dissertation was about the history of female film directors in Finland.

As a university lecturer, I have guided several theses and taught media studies (e.g. methods and methodologies) and been responsible for challenging administrative duties. In addition, I have professional experience in news rooms and PR. I have also had voluntary duties in civil organisations.
