Earning and financing models for operating on digital platforms in the arts and culture sector
The project explores the earning and financing opportunities for digital cultural production, focusing on the provision of cultural services on digital platforms.
The study focuses on the economic incentives and barriers to earning from remote cultural services, as well as on the employment opportunities for artistic and cultural operators on digital platforms. It examines the possibilities for implementing different financing models and commercialising activities in the production of digital cultural services, especially in public sector cultural services.
The focus will be on the views of artists and other content producers. The aim is to provide an overall picture of earning and financing opportunities and challenges in the digital environment, and to outline solutions to the challenges identified. The study will also provide practical recommendations for actors in the arts and culture sector on financing their activities on digital platforms.
The study is funded by the city of Helsinki (Estradi project).
