Artists’ Social and Psychological Well-being at Work

  • Duration of the project: 2023 — 2025

Cupore is participating in a subproject focusing on the arts, culture and events sectors in the Mental Health Toolkit project coordinated by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health in 2023–2025.

The Toolkit project is part of Finland’s Sustainable Growth Programme, and it is funded by the recovery instrument Next Generation EU.

The subproject on the arts, culture and events sector is led by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and in addition to the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health and Cupore, it involves participation from the Finnish Musicians’ Union and the Trade Union for Theatre and Media Finland, Teme. Cupore’s task in the subproject is to deepen the analysis of the data from the Arts and Culture Barometer 2022 which took occupational well-being as its theme. Further analysis concentrates on the responses of the self-employed artists and their social and psychological well-being and work capacity.

Based on the analysis, research articles will be written and a fact sheet on the mental well-being of artists will be prepared. A regularly repeated module focusing on artists’ well-being at work will also be planned for inclusion in the Arts and Culture Barometer. The module will enable the long-term monitoring of the situation and will be developed in collaboration with the subproject partners.
