Olli Jakonen

Senior Researcher, D.Soc.Sc.

Presentation

I am a Senior Researcher at Cupore, where I have been contributing to various evaluation and research projects since June 2014. My expertise encompasses several themes in cultural policy, including the structures and objectives of Finnish cultural policy, funding and governance models for culture, assessments of implementation and effectiveness, and the cultural policies of Finnish political parties. Currently, I am focusing particularly on the cultural policy of populist parties in Finland and Sweden. Additionally, my work addresses cultural policy within government programs, cultural well-being policies, and the impacts of the corona pandemic on cultural policy.

I also play an active role in the development of the research center. In line with my responsibilities as a senior researcher, I am tasked with securing external funding for our research initiatives. Moreover, I am an active participant in the international cultural policy debate, primarily through conferences, and have authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Since the start of 2023, I have taken on the role of co-editor-in-chief of the Cultural Policy Research Yearbook.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Political Science, from the University of Jyväskylä in 2013. I completed my PhD at the same university in December 2022, successfully defending my dissertation.
